Jenny Lynn Pierce


Jenny Lynn Pierce is a Canadian musician and songwriter who emerged as part of the 1990's Halifax music scene.

Formerly of the indie bands No Damn Fears, Jale, and the Vees, she first appeared on record with  Sloan, contributing backing vocals to their debut album Smeared  (1992) and the  Peppermint EP.

In 1992, Pierce co-founded Jale alongside Alyson MacLeod, Laura Stein, and Eve Hartling. The band released two full-length albums on Sub Pop:  Dreamcake (1994) and So Wound (1996), as well as the Closed  EP (1995) on Murderecords. Jale toured extensively across North America and Europe before disbanding in 1996.

Following Jale, Pierce formed The Vees with Stein and drummer Mike Belitsky. The group released a self-titled EP on Murderecords in 1997 and toured Canada before dissolving in 1998.

Pierce contributed vocals to  Chappaquiddick Skyline (2000) and Who Will You Believe (2024), by Joe Pernice.

She returned to recording in 2024 as  Jenny & the Tide,  releasing the six-song EP  Unsuitable on Bandcamp This project marks her re-emergence as a writer and performer, continuing her career as a Canadian independent artist.
